History
I grew up on a small sheep farm in Maine. My parents had moved east from Vermont after graduating from Goddard College. I spent my first years learning how to read and communicate affectivly. I was the first, so this was no easy task. I started kindergarten in 1981. My teacher, who was also the principl,e wanted to put me on Ritalin, my mom said no to the mind control and I continued on. I went to public school until 1992, with a bit of struggle, and a bit of trouble. Then I transfered to The Waynflete School in Portland, Maine for my Junior and Senior Year. This was a small liberal arts High school where I excelled. Within a smaller class and an approachable learning environment I excelled.
I started going to Music camp in 1985, That continued until 1991. I took eleven years of piano lessons before switching to other instruments. During that time I grew rather fluent in the dialog of sound.
In the summer of 1989 I took my first biking epedition, for this trip I travelled from lake Champlain in Vermont to Portland, Maine. The following summer I rode the circumference of Nova Scotia in Canada. This was an amazing trip as we covered over 2K/K in eighteen days.
In the summer of 1990 I started going to Jazz Camp which allowed me to develop both my ear, as well as my creative spirit.
In 1988 I started running. In seventh grade I set the state record for my age group with a mile time of 5 min. The following year I set the record again by breaking 5 for 4:59. My freshman year I was second in the state with a time of 4:30. I continued this through graduation placing in the top two with a PR in the Mile of 4:27. My event however was the 800m where I was undefeted between 1991-93. My senior year I was beaten by the guy who was my college roommate, he would later go on to the olympic trials.
My junior year I placed 35th in an the National Cross Country meet in Mobile, Alalbama. I placed first in the State 800m, second in the Mile. Third in the NEPSTA, New England Private School Track Association, and third there in the mile.
In the fall of 1993 I started my undergraduate at the University of Maine, as an Aquaculture major. I switched to Biology, because I was worried about the pigeon hole. I maed the Varisty team as a Freshman with a 10K time near 30 Min. Also my freshman year I set the indoor record for the 800m at the Univeristy of Rhode Island.
In the Fall of 1996 I took a semester off and travelled through Europe. During that time I was allowed the luxury of learning the Design of nearly every major city: London, Paris, Geneva, Lusanne, Nice, Milan, Florence, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Cordoba, Sevilla, Lisbon, Budapest, Hannover, Amsterdam. But this was before I travelled the continent.
In the summer of 1998 I drove across country with a digital camera and created a film. I had working on the project for months and was approached by SAAB Cars of North America for an inclusion in their Anniversary, however I didn't want to change my intinerary, so I declined. The final film, was given a mention at the San Francisco Film Festival in 1999 for Documentaries.
In 2000 I bought a house in the Cabbagetown neighborhood of Atlanta.
In 2001 I moved to Dallas, Texas. For this move I blame " Move West, young man." Above all else. I moved for many reasons but mainly I was hoping to beat the trend of Dot. Bomb, that encompassed the globe.
In 2002 I returned to Maine, and the family farm, and built a cabin. During that time I did a lot of writing. I wrote my book and began looking for the next step. I also began working on moving to New York City.
In the spring of 2003 I joined Project (M) and John Bielenberg for a project in Costa Rica. The intent of this project was to create a viable high end collateral piece to build donor intrigue and provide thourough information about the conservation area. In the end a book was created that inspires both the experience of life of Costa Rica, as well as inspires the interactivity of experience. This was achieved through the printing which is a double bound, center perforation multi-lingual, book in full color. The reader steps through our own journey by tearing apart the pages and uncovering all that we discovered.
In the Fall of 2005 I moved finally. I moved, however, for Graduate School, rather than a job. I started with ITP (InteractiveTtelecommunications Department) at NYU in September. I have now finished the first year of my newest path and in reflection I have learned more than I ever thought possible. I would never imagined I would be creating python script inside of ten months. I had never imagined I would discover the finite mechanics of SONAR, or the nuances of RF transmission. The rest. . . . . . HISTORY.
